What Is The KitchenAid Precise Heat Mixing Bowl?

So - the Precision Heat Bowl, is primarily designed to be used with your KitchenAid Stand Mixer, but can also be used as a heat bowl independently from the stand mixer. This adds to the very extensive range of KitchenAid attachments, that KitchenAid make for their stand mixers.
With the KitchenAid Precise Heat Mixing Bowl, there is a model that fits the KitchenAid Tilt Head Stand Mixers. And, of course, also a model that fits the KitchenAid Bowl Lift Stand Mixers.
So no matter which model of stand mixer you have, there is a precise heat bowl for you!
When you attach the bowl to the stand mixer, you can then use the heat from the bowl, regulated to an exact temperature, together with the stand mixer, to create wonders such as tempered chocolate, fondue, sauces, even caramel apples!

How Do You Use The KitchenAid Precise Heat Mixing Bowl?

The precise heat mixing bowl holds temperature within 2 degrees, for up to 10 hours. It has a temperature range of 70 to 220 degrees F.
The parts of the set are shown in this image. Note that there is a total volume. But there is also a maximum mixing volume marked. This is because mixing requires more space in the bowl, so make sure you don't exceed the marked maximum fill line.

Here's a video example of how you would make something in the bowl - it's always easier to imagine how you can use it, if you see an example, isn't it?

You've decided what you're going to create, and you're ready to start.
It's an easy process using the controls pictured, to set both the temperature, and the time.
There is also a chocolate temper setting. It's worth mentioning, I found some reviews from specialist chocolatiers saying they preferred to set the temperature themselves, instead of using the chocolate temper setting.
For me - I'm no specialist - I'll take all the help I can get!!!
Who Is The KitchenAid Precise Heat Mixing Bowl For?
Well, lets start with who this is not for!
It's not for you if -
- you cook basic food, and eat out for anything fancy
- you don't have much interest in extra cooking skills
- you don't want to shell out approx $200 for an 'extra' you would not use much
- you have no space to store it in your kitchen
- you don't have a KitchenAid Stand Mixer
And You Will Love It If ...
- you love cooking, and experimenting
- you want to be able to make a few more tricky things, easily
- you do things like temper chocolate, or make sauces
- you bake bread
- you want to make yoghurt, curds etc
How To Use The Precise Heat Bowl As A Stand Alone?
This bowl can maintain it's temperature for up to 10 hours, so it's perfect for holding food at a set temperature within 2 degrees. Why would you need that?
For me, it would mean I could take part more, not be in the kitchen so much.
You know - people for dinner, and you have custard with dessert. Instead of cooking at dessert time, make it ahead using your stand mixer. Then use the bowl to hold it at the correct temperature until you are ready to serve it. More time for you to chat, laugh, enjoy!
You can also use it alone for things that don't need mixed. You could have hot soup waiting.
Mulled wine in winter. Hot port. Spiced cider....
Now it's not super large, so your use will depend on the volume of food you need kept warm.

Conclusion
The KitchenAid Precise Heat Mixing Bowl is not for everyone!
It is an expensive item, so you would need to be sure you were going to get the use out of it!
